Corporate Cover

CAN I CHANGE MY CORPORATE HEALTH INSURANCE OPTION?

Chat to your HR or company representative about your options. Generally, the entire employer group must change to a new option and not each employee individually.

DO YOU OFFER WELLNESS DAYS AT MY COMPANY?

Wellness days are our thing. Chat to your HR or company representative about arranging a Wellness Day for 15 or more employees. You can visit your nearest Alpha Pharm, Clicks, Dis-Chem, Pick n Pay, Local Choice or Medicare pharmacy, if you weren’t able to attend the onsite Employee Wellness Day but can only access the benefit after the onsite Wellness Day has taken place.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY EMPLOYER DOESN’T PAY PREMIUMS ON TIME?

That could be a problem, because your cover will be suspended, and you won’t be able to access any benefits. If premiums aren’t paid for 2 consecutive months and there’s no attempt made to pay the arrear premiums, the group’s cover will be cancelled.

WHERE CAN I ACCESS MY AVAILABLE BENEFITS OR BENEFIT LIMITS?

CAN I ADD EXTENDED FAMILY MEMBERS TO MY POLICY IF MY COMPANY SAYS IT’S OKAY?

Sorry, you can’t. The health insurance benefit options covers you, your spouse and child dependants of whom you are the parent or legal guardian.

MY COMPANY APPOINTED A BROKER TO LOOK AFTER US AS A GROUP, BUT I’D LIKE TO APPOINT SOMEONE ELSE.

You’ll need to chat with your HR or company representative.

CAN YOU GUARANTEE PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY FROM MY EMPLOYER IF I GET COUNSELLING THROUGH THE ESSENTIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME?

Absolutely! The counsellors aren’t permitted to share any of your personal information with your employer, or any other person, unless there’s a threat of intentional self-injury.

Private Cover

CAN I CONTINUE WITH MY POLICY IF I LEAVE THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE COMPANY?

Yes, please! Complete the Health Insurance Profile Update Form Online, with all your personal details, and we’ll process a new application and confirm your new policy details.

An electronic version of your membership card is now available on the Unity Health application.

WHEN I MOVE TO PRIVATE CAPACITY WILL I RECEIVE WAITING PERIODS AGAIN?

Nope, your cover will continue without any break if you stay on the same benefit option. If your policy is still within waiting periods by the time you switch over, the remainder will be carried over.

AND WILL MY PREMIUM CHANGE IF I’M ON COVER IN MY PRIVATE CAPACITY?

That’s very possible, especially if your company paid a tailored group premium which we can’t offer to individuals.

Membership Cards

I JUST SIGNED UP FOR HEALTH INSURANCE. WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY HEALTH INSURANCE MEMBER CARD?

After the first month’s premium is received, your card will be couriered to the company. Your HR representative or company representative will let you know when it arrives. Otherwise download the Unity App, and access your membership card there.

THANKS FOR MY MEMBER CARD, BUT I LOST MINE AND/OR NEED ADDITIONAL CARDS…

No problem, but there will be a charge of R 250 for every additional card. Complete the Health Insurance Card Request Form. Please allow +- 21 working days for delivery depending on the postal service.

Claims

HOW DO I CLAIM?

If your network provider has already sent us your claim, you don’t have to do anything, but if you paid upfront you can submit a claim directly to Unity Health:

  • Fill in the Client Reimbursement Form, attach all the supporting documents as indicated on the form and email it to claims@unityhealth.co.za
  • Scan and submit your claim via the Unity Health mobile app
  • Post your claim to P.O. Box 1862, Cramerview, 2060

 

Don’t forget, you have 4 months from the date of treatment to submit a claim otherwise it will be stale.
